They originally intended to use modified Graflex KE-4 Combat Cameras, but they determined that the modifications needed for use with space suits in the Lunar environment were going to be too costly. Instead, they shopped around and settled on Hasselblad since they had a reasonably experienced engineering division, and the modular back system was easily adaptable for the military standard 70mm film packs used by the KE-4.
Kinda hard to see, but these cameras are actually fucking huge. They took 100+foot cartridges of perforated 70mm film with an imaging area similar to 120 film.
