Does the rapidly growing popularity of the "this is what a scientist looks like" meme constitute observational evidence that the "Streisand effect" theory is accurate?
The current situation with the meme certainly mimics the types of events that theorists say trigger the Streisand effect, ineffective attempts to censor the meme have so far resulted in a growth in popularity of the meme, but the results haven't been quantified well enough in any way to determine that it is a Streisand effect event with any type of mathematical certainty.
