Why is a converging sum called a "number"?

Isn't it more like a recursive function?

By this definition any converging sum or process could be called a number.

Why throw these concepts together?

Not all functions converge. It is the opposite case: numbers are also a class functions which return themselves.

it's literally is by definition. reals don't sum up to a non real (except infinite sums that diverge). stop rejecting basic axioms that the entirety of maths is built on.
