I'm tired of all these troll threads. Let's just talk about science, whatever. What is your field, what are your interests, what are your theories, what are you working on, whatever.

I'm in evolutionary neuroscience and I'm fascinated how human cognition and the structure of the brain is shaped by constraints imposed by properties of the universe. For instance the geometric principles involved in translation of retinal input and its projection upon a cellular grid in the visual area in the brain; it's entirely "shaped" by the nature of 3D space. The very properties of a three-dimensional operant world have shaped these organs in such a way, but also, we operate within that 3D world, so our cognition needs to be shaped to understand that world. I'm personally extremely curious whether we can derive properties of neural architecture based almost solely on elementary physical properties of the universe.
