How badly is religious discrimination in academia holding back the sciences?
As we all know, racial discrimination kept far too many bright minds out of academic sciences in the past and we all suffer the consequences of those past mistakes today as reduced scientific and technological progress. Religious discrimination has the same effect, in the past many great scientists were religious people, Newton, Copernicus, Gauss, Einstein and many others noteworthy names were all religious, Neil Degrasse Tyson is an atheist, so its not hard to guess that academia discriminating against the religious is going to have negative consequences for the future of science, but how significant is the effect?
