That depends on what you define to be engineering.
The short answer is: more of "high level math" (whatever you mean by that) than you know or will learn during your lifetime.

In CE I would guess abstract algebra and combinatorics.
In EE functional analysis, Fourier analysis, complex analysis and multilinear algebra, all combined into the beautiful field of signal processing.

There's also probably some advanced probability involved in statistical DSP, but I've only heard my professor mention it, I haven't seen any of the math
