I am currently planning on starting my first year at the University of Toronto as a Chem Major, but some of my family members, as well as friends, say it's a complete waste of time and money.

So what are your thoughts /sci/? Will University help me get a prestigious high paying job, or will it just land me in thousands of dollars in debt. And if the former, how can I apply/get a job/internship with only graduating high school?
