My theory is that white people have tons of stereotypes and stigmas about red hair, it’s like a big meme and red heads are seen as angry nerds and fags, but non white people are kind of disattached from redheads and white culture in general so they just see a redhead and go “woah cool, vibrant orange hair, pretty” and are attracted without having all the extra societal baggage attached.
Now as for why those stereotypes and standards against red hair developed in white society in the first place, that’s a different and interesting question. I’ve heard theories that red hair is associated with the Irish/Scottish, who were seen as basically niggers by the English, and since our culture (speaking as an American) is basically descended from English culture these negative connotations remain. Or maybe it’s genetic, although that wouldn’t explain the difference in white versus nonwhite reactions. Who can say.
