Riemann Hypothesis thread. When Riemann was studying the Riemann Zeta function he came up with the Riemann Hypothesis, which was the proposal or suggestion that this function probably only has complex zeroes with real portion on the 1/2-line. The dilemma is that Riemann was never able to actually prove beyond all doubts that his idea was true. And nobody since him has been able to confirm or deny it either. In the year 2000, the Clay Institute of Mathematics offered a 1 million dollar bounty prize for anybody that can prove beyond a doubt that the hypothesis is true, or if they are able to find a counter-example, a zero that has real part not on the one-half line (which has not been proven impossible yet). If anybody can do either of those things they will solve the problem.
