Also, other vitamins are important. If the whole system is weak you can't support a healthy immune system. I was neglecting vitamin e for a long time, but plugging that hole was an important step. Taking suggestions for natural, readily available foodstuffs high in vitamin e. I also neglected vitamin k for a long time and I have to be careful not to get too much iron.
You can look into herbs as well. Of all the herbs and spices I have found garlic most useful. It helps a lot with ulcers or open wounds and also assists immune system function.
I have a bad shoulder and often (especially after exercise strain anywhere on my body) I must resort to heating wine and some herbs which I must then drink to relieve the pain along with drinking bone broth.
Age gets us all eventually. Some earlier than others.
