Medfags, why do I get shaky and weak like I’m going to pass out after eating certain meals? My symptoms resemble hypoglycemia but I’m not diabetic. I’m not fat either.
Whenever I get an episode, I have to eat something and wait for my symptoms to disappear after a few minutes. I’m in my 20s now but I’ve had this since as long as I can remember.
It doesn’t happen all the time. I can go for months with no symptoms if I alter my diet. There are times however when I used to have the episodes every day and it lasted for months.
I haven’t had any blood tests recently but the last time I did (2 years ago) everything seemed normal. I asked a doctor about it and he told me not to worry, that it was normal but he seemed too dismissive.
I’m reading that this could be Idiopathic Postprandial Syndrome (IPS) but I don’t know. I’m terrified that I might be at risk for developing Type 1/2 Diabetes because of this.
