There are documented cases of this happening though with modern medicine it is much less likely especially since dumping bodies in the ground with no preparation is rare outside of a few religious communities.

Sadly this can happen, but with organ harvesting so prominent in the medical community (both legal and illegal), most deaths are beyond recovery. Of the bodies that haven't had their organs harvested, sadly, about 1 in 100 wake up to the nightmare of being entombed. Why do you think people are still buried 6 feet deep in modern coffins? So passersby aren't haunted by the screaming.
