Student fag here taking thermodynamics I.

I'm getting filtered by P-v-T surfaces. Am I just a brainlet? Is my spatial awareness too low? Should I just game over and hope I respawn as less of a retard?

Should I expect this on the exam?

retarded chem kid here, so take what i say with a grain of salt

i personally felt like this type of content was a lot easier to digest once you've dipped your ties in some calc 3 (multivariable).

my school wasn't mathematically rigourous about the pre-reqs for thermodynamics. they literally only asked for calculus 1 or baby calculus; i personally did baby calculus before i realized i actually did like math, then boned up in my spare time to get ready for this course + the quantum/kinetics course.

i covered pre-calculus, calculus 1-3, and a bit of vector calculus (our calc iv) + diffy eqs + lin alg. i used [https://activecalculus.org/] since it was a lot more gentler, but depending on your school you might wanna look into other resources

as for if it's on the exam? if your school has some dignity, i'd say yes. my school doesn't, so we skated by without this even though we spent the last 2-3 weeks of the semester covering thermodynamic surfaces..
