I'm calculating velocity of a falling object. I am not good with algebra and just trying to figure out what they did to the equation.

½mv2=ke turns into v2=2ke/m

I figured they get rid of the ½ but multiplying by 2 but then how come the m isn't multiplied by 2 as well?

Also is there an easier way because this is time consuming. I have height, weight of object and normal gravity. I just want to know the velocity
