Hey /sci/,

I'm writing a paper and put so much time and effort into getting it right over months, and an Italian girl on some sort of exchange is a named author so we gave it to her to review. She also has a phd while I have none and she is held in high-esteem with the PI. I thought nothing of this at all, I assumed she would come back with some additional refinements and interesting points. I love getting other viewpoints but often hate when people actively edit my writing, I assumed she would change very little of my work as she isn't that high ranking. Especially since I don't know her at all and barely spoke with her.

But now I have the paper back and she totally cracked open lots of the text and she added a lot more words. While she is excellent communicating orally and her own papers have a nice rhythm to them, she clearly doesn't understand some of the nuances in my work. My whole carefully-written paper is now full of stuff I have to try to somehow fix and she is really forceful with how she thinks she is right as well, I had no idea she would be this aggressive in her edits. What am I going to do.
