Colonialism was no different from thousands of years of human history. Neither is self-flagellating and dissipating oneself into extinction.
Also the time has long since passed where most of the problems with the 'global south' could be fairly attributed to colonialism. Independent Latin America was a mess for a full hundred years before the US had a modicum of involvement there outside Mexico (equal parts beneficial and exploitative- they helped drive out Europeans.) Countries like Haiti could not form a functioning government for more than a few years at a time for huge swathes of their history. The demographic shift is essentially there to prop up a ponzi scheme. Like all the things I just mentioned, it was primarily executed by the ultra-rich. Who should be hanged
