i don't care if this makes me vain, but a big part of the reason i'm interested in medicine at all is that i get to wear the labcoat and gloves and put needles in sharps boxes

I remember back in ochem I was too lazy to label anything so I just instinctively huffed all of my reagents without wafting. If I were a chemist I would actually dead by now. It sure did make my labs faster though.

PPE feels super gay and pointless unless you're working in BSL3 or above, or a doctor working with severely diseased people. It unironically makes me feel way more badass working in a lab with all this equipment worth millions dressed like a homeless stoner. I would wear sandals and shorts if the basedchugging fags at the environmental health and safety office would eat a dick and fuck off already. Scientists used to be able to have a cigar and coffee while they did their experiments and now I can't even neglect to wear gloves without people bitching at me.

high quality safety glasses/googles are not a bother to wear at all and have come in handy enough for me to be quite happy about wearing them, and labcoats look cool
closed toe shoes... you only need to get glass or a nail in your foot once to figure out why you need to wear them on jobsites
getting autistic about gloves does suck though

Well I'm in biology so ironically gloves are the only things that actually matter most of the time. There's really nothing that would pierce your feet in most bio labs and labcoats are essentially pointless if you're not doing cell culture or working with substantial quantities of dangerous chemicals/pathogens. To my lab's credit they should be sort of autistic about gloves.

I just reflexively closed it and wiped it with a tissue. Didn't hurt or anything just felt oddly warm which is odd because you would think it would feel cold from the evaporation. Didn't even bother using an eyewash station because I didn't want to have to fill out a safety report.

Normally I would, but I was 99% sure it was empty because I didn't hear or feel anything sloshing around when I picked it up. I was expecting only a faint trace of the odor.

It irritated my nose and throat and made me feel dizzy for a few minutes. At the time I was more worried about phosgene because the chloroform wasn't stabilized and had been sitting there for who knows how long. I also woke up with a headache this morning, but I'm not sure if it's related.
