>>13155882>>13155965what happens if the nacelle catches fire due to malfunction?
>it has to burn out because it cant be extinguished at those heightsWhy is noone mentioning the amount of oil that is released into nature from being washed out by rain?
>its just minor quantitiesWhy is noone mentioning the connection between extinction of birds and bees and wind turbines?
>dynamic systems are too complicated to fully understand, the extinction could also have other reasonsWe would need four times as much renewable energy sources with an equivalent output of one fossil fuel or nuclear power plant to replace one fossil/nuclear power plant. With the amount of offshore wind farms in the north sea at the moment, there are already significant losses due to wakes of one farm altering the wind behind it.
>it is still green energy duhis it though? the amount of emissions caused to produce the metals, the amount of oil used for the big gearboxes and the emissions caused by the ships suitable for high seas necessary to build a turbine still pollute the air, atmosphere and environment.
>but if we wont start we will kill the planet!we are killing the planet by building renewables in masses instead of using nuclear until renewables are fully developed. the emissions caused by wind turbines arent stopping after construction, they have to be maintained regularly. in the northsea there is usually a team of mechanics on the sea, living on a ship for 8 weeks, maintaining the turbines. what do you think that ship runs on? its diesel. what do you think happens if something is not on hand but necessarily needed for maintenance? a helicopter brings it.
some nacelles are even disassembled from the tower on high seas then shipped to the workshop for a more detailed maintenance and overhaul.
