Consciousness is a fundementsl property of the universe, like the speed of light. Mind uploading and singularity will never happen because there are quantum mechanical processes that go on inside a meat brain that we can never (and were never intended to) replicate.

If you want to achieve immortality, the o OT way to do it is through biological preservation of the brain. But that will still be subject to external catastrophic factors. Ergo immortality of consciousness will never happen.
