>>13150610I don't know. The data is conflicting as is nearly always the case when talking about autism.
The concept of hypermasculinity in regards to autism is mostly confined to its psychological and neurological manifestation.
Brains that are above-average in size.
Better visual/mathematical than verbal skills.
Good perceptual intelligence and skills even if overall intelligence (IQ) might be poor.
This differentiates severely autistic people pretty neatly from intellectually disabled ones even if the former often get diagnosed with intellectual disability as well.
Preoccupation with mechanical or physical systems and complete disregard for social stimuli.
You can also observe this in normal boys and girls. Attention to stimuli and the way kids play with toys is clearly gendered.
Often, the prefrontal cortex contains more neurons in autistic people which is assumed to be due to a failed pruning process of neurons and neuronal connections. Men in general have a significantly larger prefrontal cortex than women.
The majority of FtM transgender people exhibit autistic behavior. This means autistic women are significantly more masculine compared to other women explaining their wish to be male. Autism and MtF transitions are significantly less strongly correlated.
I may try to get the sources for my claims.
