I find it easy to take most of the things they say seriousy, however the media is full of shit and not an accurate representation of real science. Since the media journalists are not actually scientists themselves, they are just college dropouts who want a quick buck. Not kidding that's what the people writing on behalf of all these scientists are in real life. Not real scientists, just writers, or news reporters, lol.

Vast majority of scientists say very reasonable things. But also... Vast majority of scientists don't speak a lot. Most of what they say is consumed by braindead retard journalists who twist their words and INSIST on deriving absurd conclusions from what scientists say. Most scientists don't even speak that much publicly, they just do their research and respond to emails. Professor I worked for was leading expert in the field and worked 60 hours a week because they loved their job, but they only showed up in the news once or twice in the last 10 years because they don't speak much. That's how most scientists are, don't get tricked by the vocal minority and don't get tricked by the people who use scientists words to make rediculous conclusions like what the journalists do.

Depends on what field their research is, and what field they blabber about.
If a chemist tries to lecture me on biology I will laugh at his face and maybe release a fart on the spot.
