Why are there people who can't accept that dietary cholesterol raises serum cholesterol?

Is it because of the observational studies which by design can't detect a link between dietary cholesterol and increase in serum cholesterol because the inherent cholesterol levels of the participants are unknown or does Billy Nye go around and spread bullshit?
