>>13146830We can't really prove or disprove everything regarding the origins or end of the universe for sure.
But if anything, I've always found the idea pretty cozy, think about it differently OP.
I've always thought about it like fading out into old age after living a life full of colour. Things just kind of coming to an eventual balance. Loneliness isn't bad, it's just how things are. It's beautiful and peaceful if anything. The cold and the darkness are nothing to be afraid of. Besides, like other anons have said already, that future is far, far off. It would be scarier if the universe reached some chaotic paroxysm instead (big crunch style), kind of like spinning out of control on an icy highway.

Accepting the insignificance of it all is freeing, but it's pretty easy to let that acceptance stage lead you into apathetically rejecting everything since "it's all meaningless anyways".
Maybe it's cope, but the harsh truth is comforting in its own way. The world is cold and cruel, and its up to you to make your stay here more enjoyable. If the universe weren't lonely and scary there would be less intrigue to it, if anything.
