I mean the brain mechanisms, a human can reason that another creature he's seeing is human too since they have more or less the same shape behavior etc. but a spider can't reason. The senses are just the means to perceive, how does an animal *know* what individuals are like itself?

It's unreasonable to expect animals to even have the concept of species. Obviously this varies on a per-species basis, but a significant proportion of animal species probably lack the ability to understand the concept of species. More likely is that they make distinctions between everything they come across, animate or otherwise, and only interact in accordance with pre-programmed instinct.

Depends, for example there are ducks that can mate and produce fertile offspring but are counted as different species because of their distinct mating "dances". Even though these ducks could mate they don't because males of different breeds behave differently and females react only to the "dances" of males from their species. In general mammals, birds and reptiles probably have somewhat sophisticated ways of telling their kin appart from other living things, as we get down in complexity it may come down to simple smell-like senses. Ants and cockroaches rely on scent to identify live and dead members of their species but also to find a way to the nest or food source.
