Are there any masters programs in pure mathematics that accept students who do not have a bachelors degree? Students who are mostly self taught.

Never heard of one. Math programs are pretty structured so that everyone coming into a graduate program has some base level of knowledge.

I do have the knowledge , but I lack the degree to show for it. I am willing to sit for any required examination to give any proof of my knowledge.

No. Im working on mine at age 28. Just got out of the military and attending NYU.
While applying for schools I bought a ton of math books recommended on here. The one that prepared me the most was Lang basic mathematics.
Everything else you will be taught at uni, just refresh yourself prior to starting, and study every day.

Probably not. 22 is not "old" even in education. Its just better to do it younger because when you get older you tend to want to have all the bullshit of college behind you and your just making money and doing other things. I wouldn't go into math for money though.
