Estimated needed storage for Germany to go full renewables is around 12TWh storage.
If i remember correctly, the biggest pumped hydro storage facilities hold about 1GWh storage. So you'd need 12 000 of these. Better start building some moutains!

As you can see, we're quite a few orders of magnitude off.
Then there is hydrogen, but "power to hydrogen back to power" doesn't have a great efficiency (nowhere near the 75% of pumped hydro or 90% of batteries).
Basically, near 100% renewables is only achievable in countries with low pop density and a lot of mountains (Norway for instance).
