>>13135410i'm 32, i've caught covid twice now.
the first time was with the first wave in the US, back in early march. felt like i was having a heart attack. went to the hospital, they did a bunch of xrays, doctors ruled it as heartburn even though the lung x-rays were cloudy as fuck and i dont smoke. lasted about a week of serious symptoms, and then just the occasional cough for a few months.
the second time was in early november. came on similarly, throbbing in the chest, difficulty breathing. no medical insurance this time so i just treated at home. but then the symptoms never went away, and in fact got worse over 3 months. turns out i've developed what they cutely called "long haul covid", and now my immune system attacks my internal tissues on the regular, to where i have to follow a strict nsaid regiment just to function, and take beta blockers to slow a racing heartrate. its been 6 months now, and it shows no signs of easing up.
my dad, 61 and lifelong smoker, just had a mild fever, my brother whos 26 and pretty overweight had no symptoms what so ever.
it's a total crapshoot, seemingly random chance as to how bad you get it. be glad you got a good roll of the dice, but it's definitely not a nothing burger. all people see is the death toll, but theres a massive spectrum of those effected who dont die but get mauled by it nonetheless
