Pigmentation associated with a sex chromosome or sexual selection due to the preference for darker males for some reason I don't know, happens a lot with birds.

Nuptual hues is actually quite an evolutionary paradox in biology. It often makes species less attractive to females when it happens and gives no apparent benefit. With cichlids fish it was shown that females avoided males when they had a newly developed color.

why don't they dismiss its cause to mere chance or maybe their brain activates more to certain colors? humans like random useless features for no reason too, no one is saying dressing in a fursona is a great evolutionary strategy for reproduction

There are about 15-20 difference species of gibbon. Only some have this pattern. Symphalangus gibbons like pic-related are all black. In Hylobates lar males and females can both be light or dark. OP's picture is Nomascus concolor.

That's nice, but what I wrote is still correct. The males dark/females light pattern is only found in Nomascus and Hoolock gibbons. Hylobates moloch (pic related) are all the same colour, regardless of sex.

if you spent as much time looking at gibbons as you did humans, you'd recognize all of their tropes as well as all the differences between male and female.

The nipples are kind of a giveaway, anon.
Pic related is a male H. agilis. The fur can be light or dark in either sex, but you can tell the difference by the cheeks.

Light hair seems to be a natural and fairly common quality, I assume in some monkeys and primates it takes time for the hair to "mature." Apparently in some Gibbons the females evolved to re-adopt light fur in order to conceal their infants, which are an easy target.
