>>13131739If masks are completely useless: if people don't wear masks, the situation stays the same happens. If people do wear then, the worst case scenario is they gave a few bucks for a mask and wore it for 20 minutes in a shop/public transport and it didn't do anything.
If masks are useful: if people wear them, significantly more people are not getting infected or become unable to work and less people are dying. If they don't wear them, the disease spreads rapidly which ruins the economy more, and kills more people (yes, elderly and immuno-compromised count).
Without any proof of whether they are effective or not, it's still better to wear them as that's the best outcome.
