The rest, I don't know. There's quite a bit of philosophy regarding aesthetics. What makes something seems to be as basic a thing to ask as where do we come from? God? Humans seem to like landscapes with some particular features, like streams of water. That sort of makes sense. Water is nice if you want to see the other day, quench yourself, and all that procreation probably made you sweaty.
You have the patterns. I think a lot of it is just your brain being confused by industrial society and its consequences at this point.
