>>13115754We'll it's his & his investor's money. I like NASA but my biggest complaints about NASA right now are
1. They don't consider running a serial production on their crap.
2. Keep on adding features rather than to get their payloads out of the door, and then add the new stuff to the next payload of a series of scientific instruments.
That Rome telescope sounds very amazing, but hey let's build a series on them, and if some new instrument that you want to use comes up, then place it on Rome SN 2.
The Webb sucks because they've been working on it since the 90s, the budget has been blown up, and if the Webb fucks up it's solar share then basically someone's life work has gone to waste.
There should be "Webb SN 2", "Webb SN 3", " Webb SN 4" being cranked out as there's no way to refurbish the Webb.
If they don't plan on building Additional Webbs then they should set up the telescope to have a robot go up there and pump it up with cryogenic fuel.
3. I 100 percent get that they have a limited amount of money & politicians fuck things up, but they should also be operating their space program with contingencies.
NASA should be pushing for robotic refurbishments by starting out with the Hubble for one last refurbishment. Once we nail the hubble, we could then talk about the Webb where once it runs out of fuel it's Dead.
4. NASA is so short sighted. They canceled the ISS module seen in my picture after the Japanese space program gave it to NASA for access to the ISS. It's a centrifuge that would have revolutionized human living in space. This module was likely canceled to fund bullshit like a Gama ray observation telescope, or diversity programs.
Imagine if we had centrifuge modules for Mars.
