Hey /sci/, can anyone recommend a cheap high voltage DC power supply that can give me 50kV? Current really doesn't matter. Trying to do some at-home experimentation with irradiating pollen, and my 25kV power supply isn't giving me a high enough xray output.

50 kV dc is extremely dangerous anon. if you don't know how to make a pulse work, they I don't think you are qualified to play around. read a book or inadvertently kill yourself: it doesn't matter to me

Avoiding electrocuting yourself is not really that hard. I've been working with a 25-30kV dc supply for over a year now, still alive, no shocks because I'm incredibly cautious with regard to arcs, insulation, capacitors, etc.

Just build one. Wind a big 110v to 5kv step up power transformer from E laminations, and for the rest you will need a 5 stage voltage multiplier. There are some ready made multipliers that you can buy. And soak everything in epoxy to prevent sparking. Done.

I've been doing some research and this actually looks pretty feasible. I was thinking of pulling a flyback transformer from a CRT I have but your way is probably easier.
