Could the covid spike proteins cause autoimmune disease? Does the major histocompatibility complex prevent the immune system from targeting the normal cells even if they have spike proteins on their surface? Is this why the immune system doesn't produce antibodies for cells that viruses normally force to produce copies of the virus? Is there a small but nonzero chance that the spike proteins could somehow mess up the MHC molecules on the cell's surface somehow, causing the immune system to possibly produce antibodies that target the normal cell?
I assume that the Johnson & Johnson blood-clotting issue has to do with the modified adenovirus used in the vaccine, and that if it was an issue with the spike proteins on the cell surface (as opposed to something weird with the adenovirus) causing the autoimmune issue then it would have occurred with the mRNA-based vaccines, right?
