>>13101182I wasn't claiming that it's somehow better. It just is, people have always wanted to know the economy and laws of the natural world around them in broad and easy to understand terms. Religious sermons then, popsci documentaries now. Religion takes more effort to really access now by comparison, and popsci serves as a heavy enough easily accessible counterweight to it that some people feel they get the complete world knowledge belief can provide by believing in the words of Black Science Man. It might not be morally sound (I'm inclined to think it isn't) but in terms of explaining reality, where we came from, and where we are going it does the job.
