If you got a high GPA in undergrad and you have the means to pay tuition, I don't see why a grad school would refuse you... are you ESL or is it just the autism thing?

you really don't have anyone you can get references from? at the very least you can ask some professors for the hardest classes you got good grades from, since I'm guessing you have amazing grades.

i just hope you have other things on your application besides good grades. at the very least I hope you took a couple grad courses or did some cool competitions or projects. If all you did was maintain a 4.0 by taking a standard undergrad curriculum then its probably a long shot but no real reason not to try.

Just go get references lol. If your professors don't think your work is good enough for a reference then you won't get into grad school anyway. Also if you didn't do undergrad research you're shit outta luck for a PhD

Three years later I graduated with nearly a 4.0 and am working on publishing my thesis. My current advisor is great too.

not OP but i feel these references are pretty shit and basically the same as having no references. All they can really write is that you were great in that class, which your GPA and transcript already state. Since OP is autistic its unlikely that he attended office hours or built any sort of relationship with the professor. Especially during covid times where the professor hasn't even seen your face, these have to be the worst possible references.

I get what you're saying and you're right a rec from someone with a meaningful relationship is better than from someone who was just your teacher, but they're definitely not equivalent to having no rec at all lol. Pick an amicable professor and they'll go out of their way to write something good, not just regurgitate your grade. Also the more prestigious the better, basically creates an association between you and someone that is respected.

One of these is untrue. No one with a 167 IQ would have an identity related to gifted programs. Gifted programs and AP classes are designed specifically for midwits.

Did you not have a supervisor for some kind of final year undergraduate project? Even a module you did exceptionally well in? Most profs work with 100s of students and get it if you didn't approach them at first, once you can prove you have worked well under them previously and you politely explain your situation over an email they'll be willing to help out by exaggerating what they know about you. Mostly they just want to see that you're well-versed and enthusiastic in the research you'd hope to do.

It depends on your field and target school.

I presume you want to do research in a science. In that case, to get into grad school you typically need some experience in a research lab, or at least something in the field. So you need to go get a job or unpaid internship in something related. That is where you pick up your primary reference. The other two aren't as important and typically come from professors of classes, but if you really need to, repeat step one in another lab.

That's not true at all. "He did well in my class" is a pretty neutral reference. It's not going to boost your application at all, but you won't be rejected (at least from average/upper-average schools) solely because your letters aren't gushing about you.
You will be rejected automatically if you try to apply without any letters because the system will tag your application as incomplete and they won't even let you submit it.
