>>13096374when i was in college, the university i was at had a rule that all of the academic departments had to offer a history class about their discipline. the various stem departments didn't want to teach history to a massive auditorium full of freshmen, so they all hid their history classes by listing them as upper division classes. i took as many of those classes as i could, they were easy grades and fun classes. i got the the anecdote in OP from the history of math. i also got 16 upper division course credits in stem fields for taking history classes, half the credits applied to my double major and the math one applied to my minor degree.
