Don't know but you could try developing a test that either reinforces or disproves that hypothesis. Double slit experiment is already a start.

literally, the only thing wrong with double slit is that we cant measure photons without destroying them. Maybe you're right and there are some other special photons, but guess fucking what. There doesn't exist a method to measure them without destroying.

If photons move at the speed of light and are considered mass-less, maybe them coming into contact with a physical object at high speed leads to the destruction. Could wavelengths or some other type of particle be used to measure them?

Light is just a specific freq of an EM wave. It becomes really hard to prove you aren't altering a wavelength of light(your slit photon) with whatever light you're shining on it to observe it(light between a scope and the slit, for instance)

I think the issue is there's no standard for what the em field values are. It's impossible to have the information to calculate everything adding/subtracting from it, everywhere. You might have your experiment explained but there are too many outside forces of fields
