How would you detect the existence of magic?

I am convinced that the mind overlaps with our physical world because of my own experience and research but I fail to be able to describe such connection in rigor. Most of the tools used by ghost hunters are suceptible to external interferenceto such an extent that renders them utterly fucking useless.
I've seen outcomes come to fulfillment by rituals, magical operations and divination which have little to no chance of happening in a consistent manner. There is something hiding in plain sight in such a way that it's as hard to put into words as it is to keep track of time in a dream, I was able to describe the laws that take effect in dreams by means of conservation theorems and what little I know of differential geometry but I can't seem to find a way to link these worlds together since the effects of rituals work best at changing the outcomes of probabilistic systems or those that are comprised of a bunch of moving parts that interact with each other, be it in chaotic or complex interactions, both of which we have not developed a solid mathematical backbone for, leaving us to use tools from several places in order to describe something as mundane as the flow of a flock of pigeons.
Please let loose of your inner schizo and throw around some ideas on how can the mind and our physical world be connected, I'm happy to provide anything you need in terms of my findings (models or things I have no clue how to put into formulas).
