What are the leaves if E is the root. I would say A is the only leave as C and D are parents

You would be wrong, as C and D can not be parents. If E is the root, then all other nodes have to descend from E by definition. Otherwise it wouldn't be the root. Thus D is the child of B and C is the child of A, with no descendants for either. So C and D would be the leaves.

Just lift up E to the top and let the rest of the nodes dangle. Then it becomes obvious that C and D are at the bottom
