>>13073427The irony is each side in OP's image is influenced and molded by philosophy anyways. Einstein is saying Dawkins, Krauss, Nye, ect. are behaving and believing exactly what they should, they're not seekers of truth, they shouldn't be, they don't need to be, they're an artisan of the public, they're there to paint a picture and communicate what is currently believed and their own beliefs. Einstein's quote ironically even validates the entire right side.
Then, Heisenberg, Schrodinger, Bohr are all just as much products of their time if not more than the right, their total rejection of the idea that physics describes physical reality perfectly illustrates exactly why historical context and philosophical development is needed. The very fact that science still hasn't settled on a definite interpretation of QM means that all 3 were indeed not free from the prejudice of their time, they had singular, narrow views. Independence of your own time can only be attained by philosophical reflection of the past, which isn't always easy to see in the moment. Einstein wasn't making a statement about philosophy so much as he was asserting his own philosophy about the evolution of knowledge itself, and his own limitations. I think Einstein would even agree with the right side more, but his quote is by far much more timeless than any other tripe on that image.
