>>13077113Germany has been buying Russian natural gas even during the height of the cold war when it was still USSR natural gas and they never cut off supply. From German PoV it's very unlikely that Russia would cut off supply because the dependence goes both ways, Putin has to feed his pensioneers somehow.
Making NS2 (and NS before that) happen was one of the main objectives of German foreign policy during the last 10? years or so. And when you consider that reverse flow to supply Poland etc is possible via NS2, that NS2 actually will lower gas prices in the EU and that the alternatives are either absurdly expensive LNG or relying on pipelines through Turkey, to North Africa or through other very unstable regions it makes sense. Turning of NG supply to Germany isn't so different from just blowing up pipelines in Russia's backyard, Germany isn't Ukraine.

>Always look at what people do, not what they say.CDU: we're the party of nuclear power, proceeds to not build NPP for 40 years, orders new coal plants in 2010 instead and slows down renewable buildup after Germany spent something in the ballpark of 500 billion Euros to make solar and wind power commercially viable in the first place (this is the part you owe us for btw)
Greens: we really want to get rid of nuclear and coal and replace them with renewables, get into power for 7 years as a junior partner of the coal loving SPD and do exactly that.
