>>13068092i think what he proved is more just along the lines that an extremely gifted person could “master” physics while dabbling in math but if you do that then you end up looking like a speculative physicist who’s considered a “master” of math given that “masters” of math are too specialized to actually master all of math and “mastery” in math is too specialized. he just mastered the math that applied to string theory and since string theory is the most mathematically challenging theory of everything it was a major accomplishment. but both fields are too broad for even witten to fully master so he found some mastery niche at the exact intersection point
