You /sci/ anons may laugh at me or say fuck off, but I don't know any other places to ask this.
I have been holding a vague notion that mathematics is possibly a complete farce, because
1. It's a study on numbers
2. But numbers themselves is concept created by humans. I mean, nature doesn't count. Chimpanzees may count up to 3 or 4, but that doesn't necessarily mean they recognize the concept of numbers in the same way we do. It only works in the system of human brain, as the function/means of recognition of outer world.
3. As it's a concept, not the rule which govern the universe and might be to be totally unknown, it entails its definition. And as it's a fictitious existence and already defined, all its features can be axiomatically derived from its definition. Hence all mathematical theorems are merely expansion or interpretation of the definition of "number(s)".
4. And there must be a certain limitation in the world of mathematics, if you can see it from some overhead view.
And therefore the boundary of this small playground is already set, and there is no difference between mathematicians and game cheaters in regard of racking his brain to buffle the rulebook by inventing a new interpretation.
What I meant may boils down to "Unlike science, it's not challenging the secret of nature, but a game of people"
Sorry for my messy English as an ESL and thanks for reading.
