Why do people say he was bad in math as a kid? He mastered multivariable calculus in his early teens.

Define 'genius.' Mastering algebra and geometry in a couple months at age 12 is damn impressive considering he had no tutors/teachers and just read textbooks on his own. And the GR equations are insanely beautiful.

Einstien was consistently making trivial mathematical errors in his papers since special relativity. It got to the point to where he usually had someone else do all the math for him while he was the ideas guy.

Yeah, I always understood that he was actually super good at math but made lots of little errors in the arithmetic but that popsci people misinterpret that as "oh, he was bad at math so my stupid son that can't do multiplication tables in 7th grade because I smoked crack is actually a genius" or something

okay, now i see someone might've took it as a joke but i was 100% serious. The meme that Einstein was AKCHYUALLY stupid stems from the time he published the theory of relativity. I do this too, it's some kind of numerical dyslexia or something. There's a 50//0 doing basic x + y math that I'll get the question wrong because my brain fucks up on the numbers so I have to do everything 2-3 times.
