anyone know what the guy in this picture is majoring in just from seeing the background? He said he's in the STEM field.

Physics-ish? Why would a physics researcher need a pipette bulb and cleaning tissues?
If not for the buttons panel behind him, I would expect him to be a biochemist, or something of the sort

kimtech wipes are used in physics labs, especially if vacuum equipment is in use. Pipette bulb is definitely less common in physics labs though.

you can read "magnetic (or electric) fields" where the arrow shows so I'd assume it's chemical engineering / chemistry, an NMR room with also automation hardware and ethernet wires. Also there's a syringe on the drawers.

The magnet warning is probably from an MRI indicating some kind of materials science since there are no biohazards signs and this is obviously not a clinic. He could be majoring in engineering, physics or computer science. If he's in the actual lab and sets up the valve flow rates himself probably some kind of engineering.
