>>13055963Life was probably a lot more stable before agriculture desu; no famine, no pandemics, no large scale warfare, no class system, etc. It's true hunter-gatherers could die off if there was some super volcano event that baked the earth or blocked out the sun, but for most crises they could simply read the signs of the environment and migrate.
The reason sedentary civilization was able to emerge in the first place was mostly because of the stable, warm environment of the holocene, meaning most of our civilizational success was simply because we got lucky enough to live in a relatively easy period of earth’s history. If earth even suddenly shifted back to the chaotic environment of the Pleistocene it’s feasible that once agriculture became impossible humans (at least those still alive) could simply revert back to hunter-gatherers (if there’s anything left to hunt or gather), with the past 12,000 years of history being nothing more than an aberration where we tried some strange thing called civilization which ended up failing.
