>>13048890The frequency and type of inhaler depends on how severe your asthma is
In mild cases you only use during an attack, in severe ones you use it regularly to prevent attacks even happening(because they might be serious enough to require emergency IV treatment)
As to the type, they either contain just the ?2 agonist(formoterol in your pic, could be fenoterol) and maybe a muscarine antagonist like ipratropium - in mild cases. In serious cases they also contain a glucocorticoid - fluticazone in your pic.
The ones with glucocorticoids can cause some side effects(look up glucocorticoid side effects, but these inhaled ones are in much smaller doses than the IV dexamethasone or hydrocortisone where it's a big issue), and you also shouldn't just randomly drop using them on your own, as you did, but it already happened so w/e.
As per your actual question
>Is there something less frequent/cheaper I could ask my GP about? If you haven't actually used it in years
>>13048923 , ask him for one with just the ?2 agonist, without a glucocorticoid, to keep in case you need it.
Consider this
>>13049653 however, not sure how correct he is(pretty sure emphysema only happens when you keep having regular attacks with the usual COPD mechanism), but ask a specialist irl. When I had my classes on asthma in uni, there was no need to keep using an inhaler if you haven't had an attack in years.
