According to who? if a planet sized object suddenly appeared gravitational well in space time would extend out instantaneously. I think. To answer OPs question: Yes. The gravity well of any object extends to every part of the universe and in turn effects other objects within it regardless of distance. Due to the inverse square principle; the force of gravity is exponentially weaker at greater distances.

No. Because of quantum mechanics there is a particle that mediates the gravitational force. Once you reach the minimum possible quantum field strength it just doesn't exist father away.

Classical physics has an infinite field, but that's wrong.

there would still be light but that's because of light particles that have already left the sun

I don't know what would happen on the second premise but I would assume we follow the law of inertia

the current theory of gravity as it currently stands is not a magnetic particle but rather something that warps space time and if it does
then it's range is infinite

Replying to my earlier post.

Ok fine. I concede. After some surface level pondering gravity might not propagate instantaneously. But, I don't think its bound by/ shares the limit of the speed of light.

inertia is tied to light, the quarks making up subatomic particles of matter are massless and would move at the speed of light except they're trapped in place, so moving them through space increases their frequency because they can't move faster than light, which is where matter's resistance to being moved comes from, which is the literal definition of inertia. inert = doesn't want to move.

The reason people say "gravity has infinite range" is because on large scales, like galactic scales, forces like electromagnetism cancel out because like charges will cancel out the overall forces which means that electromagnetic forces have an effective range which is very small compared to gravity.
Gravity doesn't do this, so over large scales gravitational effects are the dominant ones.

But assuming the problem is classical the force would be infinitely small and if you are talking relativistic mass then the problem would not classic, but quantum mechanical.

It is bound by the speed of light. The speed of light is the "cosmic speed limit" anything not given mass by some condensate of w/e will move at the speed of light. (in most cases this would be the Higgs condensate)

Nobody has experienced infinite distance, so we just don't know. The equations of the current theory say it should exert a force on infinite distance, but the model could just break down at very large distances for all we know.

You can't make the sun disappear. The equations of General Relativity guarantee that the local divergence of the stress tensor is zero. What you can do is convert all the atoms in the sun to gravitons, which rush out at the speed of light. In this case, the gravity is unchanged until the graviton wave hits you.
