The MOXIE experiment on Perseverance produced oxygen in an abiotic way - meaning no plants or other life was involved.
Are there abiotic processes that can produce at least the three macronutrients (fat, carbohydrates, protein)? Abiotic processes can serve as a backup to biotic processes and they can possibly work in a bigger range of environments and be less labor-intensive. Pic related gets close to what I'm looking for, although bacteria are involved.
