Hypothetically, what's stopping anyone from creating recombinant bacteria that express AADC and INMT so that it could make DMT? This pathway seems relatively simple, and of course tryptophan is abundant in any organism.

this is interesting. i have also heard about putting psilocybin mushroom dna into yeast in order to make a psiloscobie, aka psilocybin kombucha. my level of gene engineering is not high enough to do that, but maybe other anons could evaluate how realistic these ideas are.

you need to get pure L-tryptophan though... by blending some meat, filtering and doing a column chromatography, if it's not already sold in a pure form I guess
